My name is Skylier Blaire, and I am a visual artist! My work can be described as bright, colorful, fun, and, honestly, sometimes a bit weird. Photography to me is a way to essentially create and write stories. I love having a medium that can help me to bring the faux realities of my daydreams into the real world! However, as fun as that is, I truly enjoy photography for its ability to connected me to others; especially through the use of portraiture. The camera has given me the special opportunity to be able to collaborate with many amazing, talented, beautiful people to create images that speaks volumes to their livelihoods.
A little about me, I am born and raised Carolinian. I began my collegiate career at the University of South Carolina Aiken studying psychology, and it was there that I fell in love with the visual impact of colors and expressions. It’s truly amazing to see how little things such as these can pull a viewer in and leave an imprint on them! After graduating in 2021 with my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology, I decided to further my education by pursuing a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology. RIT has given me the amazing opportunity to use my knowledge from studying social sciences and speak with them through a more artistic language. I especially love being able to use color and lighting as a means to set a mood and enhance a story beyond just what’s in the frame.
One of my favorite hobbies beyond the lens is to view and critique art. So as I create, I hope my work will catch my viewer's attention, evoke emotions in them, and hopefully get them to pause and think!
